Stephen Godsall is a composer/multi-instrumentalist based in Dorset, England

He combines jazz, classical and experimental rock approaches to create music which is full of colourful sounds, syncopation and moving parts. Six albums are available on Bandcamp, including “Atlantic Skies”,“We could fix everything”, “Ukulele Forms” and “Tingling skin, buzzing wires”

He performs with quintet “Sarah Bolter and the Godsall Brothers” and trio/quartet “Swinging machine”.

His background includes playing in rock, jazz, folk and country bands, singing in choirs, writing music software and teaching guitar. He's self taught as a composer, an approach which worked for some of his favourites like Thelonius Monk and Edward Elgar. His music has been described as "post fusion" with elements from jazz, pop, folk, classical and experimental music. Influences include Sufjan Stevens, the Incredible String Band, John Cage, Jean Sibelius, Chris Thile, Joe Jackson, Steely Dan, Eberhard Weber and John Surman. Plus of course Bach, Beethoven, Duke Ellington, Hank Williams, The Beatles, The Beach Boys and the great American songbook - who could live alongside this music and not be inspired?
